Ketlyn Bertrand

Ketlyn passed peacefully from this life the morning of October 16, 2023, after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Ketlyn Bertrand (née Brisseau), daughter of the late Georges Ludendorff Brisseau and Jeanine Brisseau (née Dumas), granddaughter of the late Oscar Ludendorff Lemoine, Claire Mira Brisseau and Anne Maïs Dumas, was born on August 06, 1952, in Jacmel Haiti. She received her primary education from the National School Evelina Levy (Kay Adeline) in Jacmel, Haiti and secondary education at the Institut George Marc in Port au Prince, Haiti. She immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1971 to live with her beloved eldest sister Anne Marie Anty (née Brisseau) and her brother-in-law Roosevelt Anty. While in Philadelphia, Ketlyn received her degree in phlebotomy at the Franklin School of Science and Art. Ketlyn enjoyed her independence as a growing young professional in Philadelphia and spending precious moments with her siblings especially on Sundays for their traditional family dinners. Ketlyn was united with the love of her life, Dr. Gerald Bertrand, in holy matrimony on October 27, 1979. This union was blessed with two daughters Geraldine and Melissa. The young couple started a new life in Jamaica, New York in 1981 where Ketlyn was an instrumental force behind her husband’s medical career. Once Gerald’s medical practice took off, Ketlyn and her family relocated to Freeport, New York in 1985. During this time, Keltyn pioneered multiple business ventures in real estate and property management. In 1996, the Bertrand family settled in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Ketlyn continued to remain supportive and committed to her family while continuing to travel to Jacmel and work alongside Gerald at Clinic St. Jacques et St. Philippe. Ketlyn was admired by her family and friends for her elegance and grace. Her sophistication resonates within her daughters and nieces. She is a role model for those who love her. Her favorite moments were spent with her grandson, granddaughter, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Geraldine Bertrand and Melissa Bertrand; her two grandchildren: Gianni Gerald Elpenord and Penelope Gilianne Dorce; siblings: Jean-Baptiste Brissault, Jacqueline Brissault Resilard, Andre Fritz Brissault, Georges Brisseau, Marie Michelle Brisseau Nicolas, and Betina Brisseau; cousins: Marie France Mode Cardozo, Marie Mireille Mode Bourdeau, Marie Jeanne Florence Mode Olivier, Joseph Gerard Hughes Mode, Marie Chantale Mode, Florence Colon, Kathleen Colon, The Brisseau/Brissault Family, The David Family; in-laws: The Bertrand, Saint-Louis, Gousse, and Jasmin Family, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
