Wilson Aligah Lubin Jr.

I missed my flight! That’s how it all started, God was up to something! I was missing an ingredient to my life and God saw fit to bless me with a child 13 years later after having his sister, Anquanique. I was on a mission career wise, but God has a far more greater plan. I decided this was going to be the reason why I exited the military because we (dad and I) would be starting something new, and I’d be starting all over again! I was in labor for 22-23 hrs! This boy was comfortable and would not come out; stubborn! I was just pushing and waiting and then on November 18, 2005, in Lawton, Oklahoma, our son was born. For 3 days, he was “Baby Gabriel” cause dad wanted a Junior, but I was ANTI! Then finally, grandma saved the day, and I gave in to my husband’s heart’s desire; he got his Wilson Alijah Lubin Jr., but we agreed that his nickname would be A.J. Approximately 18 months or so later, I discovered that A.J. carried his grandfather’s name, Eli (Elijah) AND they also shared the same birthday (Nov. 18th) by his great uncle Elize. Again, I tell you that God was up to something. A.J. all around was just so special, a definite gift from God! Anything that is valuable you’ll protect, and we did just that for A.J. He was allergic to everything except air, but you would have never known that unless we told you. Watching over him day and night, night and day was worth the sacrifice. He was given the name, “Backpack” at church because we carried all of his “rescue” meds within it. The backpack included: anything with wheels, especially fire trucks. Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam ruled our home nonstop! And please don’t let there to be a real fire because we had to call Fireman Sam! Despite what was happening on the inside (allergies wise), A.J NEVER COMPLAINED OR CRIED ABOUT IT! The only thing that he didn’t like was wearing wet pajamas to bed to calm his skin per the dermatologist. I believe that A.J not being allowed to have certain things were just God’s way of protecting him from something we could not see. God was up to something!! Life as a military dependent to parents who served during war time was not fun especially when dad was deploying for the 2nd and 3rd time or leaving for some training. Constantly adjusting to change with ease seemed to come natural for A.J. You would never see him sweat. In 13 years, A.J. moved 13 times. Schools changed, friends changed, and he just kept on striving. His grades never faltered. He remained a straight A student; skipped 6th grade and remained the youngest in his class. Fridays guaranteed we’d be in Hobby Lobby. Because as promised, another A meant another model airplane. Despite the size, it took no time to build it so I had to keep money on hand for this guy! A.J’s. athletic ability and giftedness no matter what sport he participated in (except hockey- didn’t want to try it at all) was displayed countless times on the field and on the track, he was a BEAST at it! Football was his sport hands down! His vision, despite wearing glasses, was impeccable on the field. He could spot the hole, and he would do a boogie to shake off the opponent and I’d shout, “ Go J-Boog!!” and he would just go! He had pure talent! A.J. was unstoppable! A.J. showed up always giving everything 100% and challenged others whether on the field, the track, on the team, and off to step their game up. Never arrogant, didn’t boast about his gifts, talents or abilities; A.J. was simply, humble, responsible, respectful, welcoming, and loving. He saw the best when others saw the worst, he didn’t judge, he wasn’t a bully, didn’t do drugs, wasn’t a gangster or thug, he wasn’t disrespectful or selfish, he was a King’s kid and he knew this, A.J. was a leader! A.J. being himself always gave love and you felt it! He was always determined to be a solution and not the problem, loyal, fierce, brave, courageous, and fast. A.J. is and will always remain an amazing son, the best big brother, a nephew, uncle, cousin, teacher, joy, air and peace! He remained steady in any storm not allowing anyone to see him sweat! I admired that gift and wondered how he did it especially under pressure? He wasn’t perfect but he was perfect for me, for us! My J-Boog! Ajeezy! A.J., He set records and a standard for many to immolate and strive towards. Different but special he spoke Japanese, graduated from Gulf Coast High School in 2023 at 17 yrs old and chose flying over football because he wanted to soar and to see the world. He enrolled at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University the same year and got a cat, Huey Gabriel Lubin. During the beginning of his 2nd year, AJs life was snatched from amongst us on September 26th, 2024, after midnight. A light has been extinguished and a shock has been felt across the board. AJ was a trailblazer and has made an impact! Now he has made an entry into the hands of the Father and HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! FLY HIGH AJ!
