Marie E Dorvil

May 15, 1941 - August 7, 2023. This totals to 82 years, two months, and 23 days spent on this earth by Marie Elirose Dorvil. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend. God had sent her here among us humans to experience life and give life. Now He, the great, had called her home. Marie E. Dorvil was the youngest of five siblings. She survived them and is now rejoicing with her big family on high. She is the mother of three daughters and one son: Elienne, Rose, Nadia, and Ernsceau. Marie E. Dorvil was known as a generous woman everywhere she stepped. In 1998, she migrated to the United States to join some of the family members, but left behind her two younger children. Although it was tough, less than two years later, they were reunited and lived nearby, as she was always eager to help take care of her 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She proudly said: those babies are my legacy! Whether you are from Gonaives where Marie spent most of her time or from Plaisance where she was born, Marie is there for you if a helping hand is needed. A plate of food, refreshments, some money to take the bus, clothes or whatever she felt you might be in need of, she would assist you. “I am blessed, now it’s my turn to bless you.” That is the way she understood life. Marie was not an ordinary person. Those who met her in America; had not known anything of her past. The recurring sunsets of trials and tribulations did not break her but instead drove her with a consistent goal to do better and be better for her family. She would never complain; even in her last days when she was in pain — she was taking all of this with a strong spirit and disposition. Marie is a warrior, the true meaning of the word, fighter. She was humble, but always took pride in teaching the valuable lessons and principles to her children. Many will say she is an honest person, but I am saying that there cannot be lies within someone with high esteem of themselves. She was in love with the truth. Even if it hurts, she will say it and admire those who stand for it. She will always say: M pa nan ipokrit! Now, Marie Elirose Dorvil is not in this world anymore, but may those who remember, keep a fond memory of her. Moments of joy as much as moments of sadness. Today is not the day to say goodbye, there cannot be a separation from those we love. We can of course feel the sadness for the trials we may face alone, but the strength shall always come from her: she is our inspiration. Always alive you are, Marie E. Dorvil. We will carry on in your name!
