Josy Mathelier

Josy Mathelier, 62, of Miami, Florida, gained her angel wings peacefully on March 20th, 2023 with her beloved son by her side after a year-long battle with Colon Cancer. Josy was born on March 9th, 1961 to Mme Alice and Antoine Mathelier in Haiti. After leaving Haiti, Josy began her new life in Connecticut before settling down in Florida with her son. A loving mother, Josy was fiercely independent and worked hard to provide the best life for her son Arleandro. She unconditionally and unselfishly loved her son and supported him all her life through the many highs and difficulties of their lives. When her first grandchild Kaiden came along, it began a whole new chapter for her. Her prince as she called him, was her whole world. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, most especially over the holidays. When her first grandson was born, it became a tradition to always cook his favorite meals on Christmas Day while he opened his presents. Josy was a devoted friend, who opened her arms and home to many when needed, without hesitation. She was also passionate about her Catholic faith. She was a dedicated sports fan and loved watching every Miami Heat game. Josy is survived by her son Arleandro Dorvil; her daughter-in-law Katherine Nunez; her grandchildren: Kaiden and Kaleb Dorvil; her sisters: Josette Mathelier, Louise Marie Mathelier, Marguerite Mathelier St. Juste, Mimose Antoine; her sisters-in-law: Carole Mathelier and Martha Mathelier; her brothers: Michel Mathelier, Jean Joseph Mathelier; her nieces and nephews: Jn Joseph Mathelier Fils, Eder Mathelier, Maite Mathelier, Yva Augustin, Francois Augustin, Mickael Augustin, Jocelyn Augustin, Marie Josy Augustin, Michele Alice Mathelier, Mike Antoine Mathelier, Michel Junior Mathelier, Dana Mathelier, Louis Edouard Jn Baptiste, Osvelt St. Juste, Marvelt St. Juste, Osvald St. Juste, Germina Mentor, Kenol Mentor, Michelle Mentor; her Godson Jude Lazarre; her cousins: Pricien Dominique, Jean Dominique, Jeanne Mentor, Renette Mentor and Nancy Mentor, and a number of other loving relatives, multiple grandnieces and nephews and close friends. Josy’s life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she stayed here. We will always love you Josy.
