Jean Cluade Borno

Jean Claude Jacques Borno was born on October 12, 1937 to Montes Borno and Micelia Homage in Port Au Prince, Haiti. As a young boy, he developed what would become a lifelong passion for the sport of soccer. On many of his days, his voice could be heard euphorically shouting “goalllllllll!” His mom remarried Ati Denis and he was blessed with 3 siblings: a brother, Catule Denis, and 2 sisters, Michelaine Denis & Tulia Denis. His father married Prima Borno, who entered the union with her 2 children: Edgar J. Pierre and Ermita Pierre. At the age of 7, Jean Claude went to live with his father, and a beautiful blended family evolved from that union. In 1965, he met the love of his life, Marie Osline Desir. He was instantly captivated by her beauty and knew she was “the one.” He loved meeting her at their local bus stop where he would serenade her with his favorite love song. On December 11th, 1965, Jean Claude and Osline began their life together as husband and wife. In January of 1966, Osline left Haiti and her husband to move to the United States and lay the groundwork for them to create a better life for their future family. 6 months later, after she became a US citizen, Osline was able to help bring Jean Claude over to become a citizen himself. From there on, Jean Claude held a deep love and reverence for the USA, often proclaiming it to be “the best country in the world!” In March 1968, he became a mason at the Lodge Arche De Noé #2 bis Orient de Miami Floride. He twice-served as a Venerable Maître Titulaire: 1st term: December 1980- December 1983; 2nd term: December 1985-December 1987. On June 18, 2022 he be become a T.:P.:S.:G.:C.: (Tres Puissant Souverain Grand Commandeur.) In 1969, Jean Claude and Osline welcomed their firstborn son, Jean Jacques Borno. In 1971, they welcomed their baby girl, Jacqueline Betty Borno. Their dream of being able to build a better life was set in motion now that their family was complete. Always a family man at heart, Jean Claude took great pride and honor in raising his youngest brother, Paul Emmanuel Borno, born in 1962, as his very own son when he came to live with the family in 1976. At an early age, he became a passionately devout Catholic. After moving to the United Stated, he became a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral, where he remained a faithful member until his passing. Jean Claude loved God, and had a relationship with Him that helped many others throughout his lifetime. Jean Claude worked for Florida Steel Corporation for 25 years without ever missing a day of work, nor was he ever tardy. He arrived at least an hour early every single day. He loved to let his family know, “I am never late!” After retiring from Florida Steel Corporation, Jean Claude went on to work for Miami Jewish Home for 7 years where he was a transportation driver for senior citizens. He loved navigating the streets of South Florida, and he took great pleasure in being able to share his experiences and familiarity. He carried his exemplary work ethics and reputation with him during his time at the Miami Jewish Home. Jean Claude’s dream for a better life was one that extended far beyond himself. After cementing themselves in their new world of opportunity, Jean Claude and Osline helped over 3 dozen family members make the same trek from Haiti to the USA. To further help them get their footing, Jean Claude and Osline opened their home up to those family members for over a decade. He was preceded in death by his parents, Montes Borno and Micelia Homage, his brother Edgar J. Pierre, and his sister Ermita Pierre. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Osline, his son, Jean Jacques (Karen), his daughter, Jacqueline (David), his three grandchildren, Jamal, Trinity and Christian, his brothers, Catule (Inocia) and Paul (Marjorie), his sisters, Michelaine and Tulia, his number 2 daughter, Sandra, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, mason brothers and other loving family members.
