Jean Marie Edmond

Our father, Jean Marie Edmond was born on May 21, 1948, to Oscar Edmond and Eliante Alexandre in Les Cayes, Haiti. Dad always reminded us of his upbringing in Haiti and talked about riding his motorcycle in his early youth. Dad grew to find his life’s calling as a husband, father, and independent business owner. After moving to Miami, he met our late Mother, Annette Edmond (1950-2017). Together, they raised six children: Elizabeth, Rita, Lourdes, Nancy, Annie, and Kelvin with dutiful vigilance, compassion, understanding, love, and support. I could still hear my father say, “Well what did your mom say” when he suspected that anyone of us tried to pull a fast one as children would try to do and verse versa. Their marriage flourished by the grace of God through sickness and in health for 38 years until Mom was called to Glory in 2017. As years went by, we noticed that Dad continued his life’s calling and became an exemplary lighthouse and role model as a grandfather to grandchildren: Albert, Andrew, Armstrong, Andre, Kelvin, Latricia, Shanice, Jada, Miracle, Roman, Keinan, Reyna and Justina. I could see the light in his eyes when he would see the great-grandchildren, Albert Jr. and Leah. Oh yes, I must say he was all that and some. Our Father was a genuine hard-working man who branched off and became a business owner after working as a factory worker for several years. He started his own business as a school bus driver in the Miami Shores area. Through perseverance, the business grew over time and remained successful for over 25+ years until he retired. In addition to being a business owner; Dad enjoyed working in his garden where planted produce ranging from avocados, oranges, and mangoes just to name a few. I could remember him in the back yard wearing the huge straw hat he wore so well. I also remember the fresh smell coming from the garden he maintained so well. But what I remember most is the taste of the sweet oranges he’d cut at the family table on Saturdays around breakfast for all to grab. What I can again and again and again is that he left footprints of love in its simplest form that any child could pray to have which I could speak for myself that I was blessed to have had. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth, Nancy, Annie, and Kelvin; grandchildren: Albert, Andrew, Armstrong, Andre, Kelvin, Latricia, Shanice, Jada, Miracle, Roman, Keinan, Reyna, and Justina; great-grandchildren: Albert Jr and Leah; sisters: Gladys, Kethie, Maryse; brother Harry, and a host of loving relatives and friends. Jean Marie Edmond will continue to live on in the loving hearts of all his family, and friends forever.
